🗺️ How to Measure Distance & Area from a Map – Step by Step
✅ Step 1: Scan the Map
First, take the plot / land map you have.
🖨️ Scan it using a print–scanner machine
💾 Save the file as PDF or Image (JPG / PNG)
⚠️ Important:
The map must be machine-scanned
❌ Do NOT use photos clicked from a mobile phone
✅ Step 2: Upload the Map
Open the Plot Meter App
Tap on Upload Map
Select the scanned PDF or Image file
✅ Step 3: Open the Map
After uploading, the map will open on the screen.
Now you are ready to configure settings.
⚙️ Step 4: Open Settings
After the map opens:
👉 Go to Settings
👉 Carefully set all options as explained below
⚙️ Step 5: Configure Settings Correctly

(e.g. Bigha, Katha, Dhoor, Dismil):
Open Menu
Go to Setting Location
Select your State
Select your District
Tap Submit / Save
✅ The app will automatically show
local distance and area units based on your region.
3️⃣ Paper Size
⚠️ This is not the original paper size,
but the paper size used while scanning the map.
Examples:
A4
A3
A0
📝 Note:
If the map is downloaded from Bhu Naksha / Geo Portal,
select “Bhu Naksha” as Paper Size.
4️⃣ Orientation
Choose according to map direction:
Landscape → if the map is horizontal
Portrait → if the map is vertical
📐 Step 6: Set Scale (Most Important Step)
🔘 “If you have scale of the Plot Map” toggle
👉 You will see two types of scale
👉 You need to fill only ONE case
👉 The other section may remain filled or empty – no problem
👉 The app uses only the active (visible) scale
✅ Case 1: Length Scale
If the map shows:
1 cm = 40 meter
1 cm = 20 meter
Then:
Turn the toggle ON
Enter the Length Scale correctly
✅ Case 2: Ratio Scale
If the map shows:
1 : 4000
1 : 2000
Then:
Keep the toggle OFF
Enter the Ratio Scale correctly
⚠️ Scale Clarification
✔ Enter only the scale mentioned on the map
✔ No need to fill both scale types
✔ No need to clear the other section
✔ Only the active scale is used for calculation
🔵 Step 7: Submit Settings
After entering all settings and scale correctly:
👉 Tap the Submit button
✍️ Step 8: Start Measurement
Now you can:
✔ Draw the plot boundary
✔ Measure each side distance
✔ Calculate the total plot area
📐 Results will be accurate and reliable.
⭐ Important Tips
✔ Always use a scanned map
✔ Select correct Paper Size and Scale
✔ Wrong scale = wrong measurement
✔ Use correct toggle ON / OFF
✔ Zoom in while placing markers
